Depends on who does the visa

What normally happens is that the embassy gets the package from the INS, then in three to fours weeks the Embassy will send you a letter explaining what you need to bring to the embassy, Now If A Foreign Affair (AFA) is doing your visa the office will get this package ready before the INS approves you (women) > So as soon as the INS approves you in the USA, AFA will send the package from its foreign office to the embassy. This will save you four to eight weeks on the visa process. If you do it yourself, it will depend on how long it takes you to get your documents ready after you receive letter from Embassy.

Hope this help, and congratulations.

PS: My wife runs a support group for Russian and Ukraine women in the USA.
She is great at helping women when they get here.
